Porsche, a sport car manufacturer rolled out a new version of 911 Targa, which gets the classic design from the original 1965 model with the new-age sportiness of the seventh-gen 911, has now been introduced in the Indian market.
The 911 Targa introduces with an innovative automated roof system for the convertible, which the company claims to be “the very latest in ground-breaking roof technology”. Just by pushing a single button, the roof of the car can be deployed or retracted in 90 seconds.
Apart from being a visual delight, the 911 Targa also promises to offers incredible driving pleasure with two variants. The 911 Targa 4 comes loaded with a 3.4-litre flat-6 engine that claims to produce 350 horses. With the added optional Sport Chrono package, this model accelerates from zero to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and claims a top speed of 282 kmph.
The top variant, 911 Targa 4S, provides 400 hp from a slightly bigger mill of 3.8 litres. The Targa 4S can sprint up to a top speed of 296 kmph and, and accelerates up to a 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono package. The 911 Targa 4S can also be specified with the Carrera S Powerkit that boosts output by 30 hp.
Power from these flat-six engines is transmitted to the wheels by the now famous automatic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK). In terms of safety elements, Porsche Traction Management comes as standard on the all-wheel drive system. To increase efficiency on these high-revving units, Porsche has boosted the Targa with electrical system recuperation, map-controlled thermal management of the engine coolant and an auto stop/start function. The new 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S are available at all Porsche Centres in India with price tags of Rs. 1.59 crore (911 Targa) and Rs 1.78 crore (Targa 4S).
