The KTM Duke 250 and RC250 are the first KTM bikes to be sold in India by Bajaj and they are one of the most affordable performance motorcycles you can buy today. In terms of design and styling the bikes have launched with new concept in India as no other bike had the same design philosophy. These bikes are manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant and are exported to many international markets.
Both the KTM 250cc twins feature a 248.8cc, single-cylinder liquid cooled engine with power assisted slipper clutch, boosted with anti hopping technology. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, this engine delivers a maximum power of 30.7bhp at 9,000rpm with 24Nm of torque at 7,250rpm.
Both the bikes are based on the Trellis frame, and share several features such as Metzeler tyres and ABS (anti-lock braking system). The two new bikes are scheduled to go on sale in Japan next month. This Austrian auto company already has four models in India, Duke 200, RC 200, Duke 390, and RC 390. KTM 250 will carry a price tag of 550, 000 Yen (around 2.88 lakh) and the RC 250 will cost 620, 000 Yen (around 3.25 lakh).
